Job Summary

The Young People’s Producer - North East will play a key role in delivering impactful programmes for young people as part of WOW’s activities in the region, working closely with young participants, artists, schools and local stakeholders.

Job Description

Fee: £16,200 (£225 per day)

Dates/Duration:26 May 2025 - 7 November 2025 (approx. 3 days a week for 24 weeks)

Location: Remote working - with some travel across the North East required for the delivery of workshops / programmes.

Interview dates: Proposed Monday 19 May/Tuesday 20 May

Proposed start date: Immediate start, dependent on availability

The Young People's Producer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering three major youth engagement projects:

1. FAYB Programme (June - October 2025)

A 14-week creative engagement project with young people (aged 16 to 20) from the North East exploring gender equity, arts and activism. This project forms part of an international research collaboration with King's College London, focusing on gender-based violence prevention.

2. WOWsers: Creative Careers Programme (September - October 2025)

An eight-week creative careers programme designed to give young people (aged 16+) insight into festival production, creative industries, activism and gender equality. Participants will develop and deliver their own showcase event at WOW North East.

3. WOW North East Festival - Schools Day (Friday 17 October 2025)

You will oversee the recruitment, engagement and logistics for the Schools Day at WOW North East - a day of talks, workshops and performances for young people.

Job Requirements

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Significant experience working with young people in an arts, education or community setting
  • Experience delivering creative workshops and participatory programmes
  • A deep knowledge of / local connection to the North East region - with the ability to travel to locations around the region to deliver workshops and programmes as required
  • Strong pastoral and facilitation skills
  • Strong safeguarding experience and an up-to-date enhanced DBS check
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work flexibly with multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Passion for equality, creative activism and youth engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering projects that connect young people internationally
  • Knowledge of the North East's education and community networks
