The Network Manager will lead and manage the Black Country Network, supporting diverse organisations and individual change makers. They will embed youth voice, foster collaboration, and drive collective action, ensuring measurable social, cultural, and civic impact across the region.
Network Leadership & Delivery: 1)Lead strategic and operational delivery of the Black Country Network as a connected, learning-led ecosystem. 2)Oversee five programme strands, turning strategy into clear plans, outputs, and outcomes. 3)Support professional development, innovation, and open space convening. 4)Embed youth leadership, voice, and social action across all activity. Building Alliance & Membership: 1)Grow and sustain membership, ensuring recruitment, retention, and engagement. 2)Act as a connector, brokering relationships between grassroots organisations, statutory partners, funders, and policymakers. 3)Facilitate collaboration to improve practice, unlock resources, and strengthen collective influence. Research & Relationship Development: 1)Map and research organisations and individuals working with children, young people, and young adults under 35. 2)Identify gaps, duplication, emerging needs, and opportunities, focusing on underserved communities. 3)Build and maintain partnerships across VCSE, cultural, education, youth, and public sectors. Youth Voice & Co-Design: 1)Ensure children and young people are active partners in decision-making. 2)Advise Youth Boards, youth forums, and social action groups. 3)Embed co-design, co-production, and rights-based participation. Governance, MEL & Sustainability: 1)Establish governance, manage risks, safeguarding, and equality standards. 2)Work with evaluators to monitor impact, gather insights, and support continuous improvement. 3)Line-manage staff, manage resources, and support long-term network sustainability. 4)Represent Powered by CAN in local, regional, and national networks, supporting advocacy, policy influence, and collective learning. 5)Participate in team meetings, development, and occasional out-of-hours activities, acting always in the organisation's best interest.
1)Minimum 5 years' experience leading or coordinating complex, place-based programmes, networks, or partnerships in children, youth, community, cultural, or social justice contexts. 2)Experience researching, mapping, and analysing local ecosystems, identifying gaps, duplication, and opportunities, and translating insight into strategic, actionable plans. 3)Proven ability to broker relationships, build trust, enable collaboration, and deliver shared learning and collective impact across sectors. 4)Strong knowledge of systems thinking, youth participation, rights-based, co-produced approaches, and community-led practice. 5)Experience in partnership governance, programme management, monitoring, evaluation, and risk mitigation in multi-stakeholder environments. 6)Ability to hold a strategic overview of complex systems while also managing operational delivery. 7)Ability to navigate power dynamics between grassroots groups, statutory bodies and funders.
