The researcher will assist research into the history of a local pharmacy, Tremletts Chemist, that ran in Portsmouth for 100 years and is still remembered amongst community members today. The researcher will carry out oral history interviews with key stakeholders from Tremletts Chemist, as well as locate historical pharmaceutical objects and photographs from key family and staff members. This material will form part of an exhibition at the Portsmouth History Centre celebrating local pharmacy history in Portsmouth and forms part of the celebrations to mark Portsmouth's 100 year anniversary in 2026.. CLOSING DATE: 08/02/2026 23:59 To carry out 20 hours of research between February and April 2026. Exhibition to run from May to end of November 2026. Total payment £500. Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Essential): Experience in qualitative research approaches An interest in local history and community pharmacy Exceptional communication and writing skills Demonstrable social and interpersonal skills in working in local community settings Able to work independently and communicate effectively with the project team Proven knowledge and experience of interview-based qualitative research Excellent communication and facilitation skills with a variety of stakeholders Skills (Desirable): Related qualification related to the Humanities, Pharmacy or the Social Sciences Experience in oral history interviews Project team: Portsmouth History Centre, School of Pharmacy, University of Portsmouth and Dr Annabel Tremlett To carry out oral histories.
