Job Description Take A Part CIO and East End Development Trust are commissioning an artist-producer (or collective) to lead Tides & Tales, a multidisciplinary heritage project in the East End of Plymouth. The selected artist will co-produce two interconnected outputs alongside residents and young lead producers from the Ocean City Influencers (ages 11-18): Podcast Series: A broadcast-ready audio archive collecting oral histories, working-class maritime heritage, and contemporary migrant stories. "Living Museum" Cabinet: A mobile, zero-maintenance exhibition cabinet housing local ephemera and sensory assets to travel through community spaces and schools. The project requires 40 delivery days over 18 months (Nov 2026 - March 2027), including a minimum of 25 embedded workshop/community making days. We warmly welcome and encourage applications from Black, Asian, and Ethnically Diverse artists. We also welcome enquiries from artists who suit one element of the commission and would like help pairing with a complementary partner. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in socially engaged, collaborative artistic practice. Demonstrable experience in high-quality audio production, podcasting, or sound art. Experience in 3D design, exhibition curation, or physical fabrication (for the cabinet). Track record of working on community art/heritage projects or within areas facing socio-economic exclusion. Ability to deliver 25 embedded community engagement days. Self-employed status, Public Liability Insurance (min £2m), and a current DBS check (we can support with this!). Conduct immersive fieldwork, site visits, and research sessions. Host accessible audio recording sessions with community groups to gather oral histories. Work with Ocean City Influencers (ages 11-18) as lead young producers. Co-curate and fabricate a robust, mobile "Living Museum" cabinet using sustainable materials (zero maintenance).
