Charleston is a cultural organisation that brings people together to engage with art and ideas across our two sites in Firle and Lewes. Charleston in Lewes launched in 2023 as a town-centre pilot, designed to broaden access and deepen engagement with local communities. Just a 10-minute walk from more than 8,000 students attending nearby state-maintained schools and a sixth form college, the site benefits from strong transport links and offers a vital opportunity to reach more diverse audiences. In March 2025, Lewes District Council granted Charleston a 25-year lease on the site, enabling the transition from a pilot to a permanent cultural centre at the heart of the town. As part of this next stage, we are seeking an experienced Activity Planning Consultant to lead the development of a comprehensive Activity Plan for the Charleston in Lewes project during its National Lottery Heritage Fund Development Phase. The finalised Activity Plan will support our Delivery Phase funding application, which is currently scheduled for submission in December 2027.
