We’re seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Music Librarian to support the delivery of high-quality opera productions. This role is central to ensuring the accurate preparation, management, and distribution of vocal and orchestral materials, alongside contributing to the creation and delivery of surtitles for live performance.
Working closely with the Music Library & Surtitles Manager, the postholder will play a key role in supporting both the administrative and technical functions of the music library. The role requires a high level of precision, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced performance environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a busy music department, contributing directly to the smooth running of rehearsals and performances while supporting artists, musicians, and production teams.
Requirements:
- Music degree or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrably accurate and neat music and word-copying skills
- Familiarity with the requirements of singers and orchestral players gained through practical experience
- Computer literate using MS365 to a proficient standard
- Proficient in use of Sibelius engraving software
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Excellent time management with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small team
- Proactive approach with the ability to use intiative
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
- Knowledge of and interest in opera
- Strong written and verbal English skills (CEFR C2 or equivalent)
- Clear handwriting
- The ability to lift and move boxes of scores up to 15 kg
