Nottingham comedian and theatremaker Jeanette Bird-Bradley, is currently making an exciting new Ghost Story Theatre show, that draws on her own experiences of living with MS and paranormal activity. Seeking to explore the parallels in believing in the supernatural and living with an invisible disability. This project is supported by generous funding from Arts Council England, with further support from MS Together, Nottingham Playhouse and the Attenborough Arts Centre. About the show Unfinished Business is a new solo comedy theatre show that explores the experience of being diagnosed and living with MS, family relationships with the supernatural, the pressures & abuse that can be found in academic institutions. Drawing parallels from chronic/ invisible illnesses & disabilities to that of the paranormal & ghost stories. Looking at the barriers, or times when you don't feel like you have a voice, and finding your way through them. Or when you are faced with doubt, because others can't see or understand your experience. There will be a day rate of £150 a day for each day worked, we will also cover travel and accommodation expenses where applicable. We are looking for a young person (18-30) who has an invisible disability with an interest in a career in theatre, to support us with the project. This will include attending rehearsals and contributing to the creative process, supporting the producer on project management aspects including budgets, schedules and contracts, as well as assisting in creative design elements. In addition to this one to one mentoring will be available with Jeanette, the producer and Director about your own development. As this process develops there might be opportunity to have a role within the show itself as Understudy. Although this work is still being developed, we foresee this as a flexible performance role, sometimes being a role within the performance with Jeanette, and sometimes taking over for Jeanette.
