The Bront Society has vacancies for Visitor Experience Assistants to join the front-of-house team at the Bront Parsonage Museum in Haworth, West Yorkshire to assist with seasonal opening hours - February to October 2026.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to working within a vibrant and busy heritage setting and a willingness to learn about the Bront s and our world-class collections.

There are no set working days. The working pattern will be 22.5 hrs per week over three days out of six, Wednesday - Monday, one of which will be either a Saturday or Sunday. Shift hours are 9am to 5.30pm.Rotas are provided four weeks in advance.

Job Requirements

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide excellent customer service for all visitors to the museum and shop, helping to maximise sales and enhance the visitor experience, ensuring the highest standards of security and preventative conservation for the displays and building.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specialism:

  • To provide a courteous and helpful service for anyone visiting, working with or contacting the Bront Parsonage Museum and shop or using the online shop or ticketing system, and ensuring that excellent standards of customer service are maintained
  • To promote and uphold the organisation's brand and reputation as directed by the Visitor Experience Manager and the Marketing and Digital Officer.
  • To staff the museum welcome desk, processing monetary and credit card transactions efficiently and accurately, in compliance with the Bront Society's financial procedures
  • To staff the museum and shop and enhance the visitor experience by developing the knowledge needed to answer questions.

Job Responsibilities

  • To promote a better understanding of the Bront s, their literary and artistic works, the Parsonage, its facilities and the history of Haworth and the local area
  • To interpret the house and its collections to a very high standard by performing guided tours of the museum to groups and visitors when required
  • To ensure the highest standards of security and safeguarding for the house and its collections, maintaining vigilance in compliance with agreed procedures and using the building's security and alarm systems
  • To act as a Fire Marshall and play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe evacuation of visitors from the museum site in an emergency or disaster
  • To participate in the daily care, cleaning and monitoring of the collections as directed by the Visitor Experience Manager and curatorial staff, in line with good practice protocols for conservation and care.
