Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, practical and welcoming Venue Technician to join the technical team at Greenwich Theatre.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Venue Technician will support our programme of visiting and in-house productions, assisting with get-ins, performances and get-outs and helping visiting companies make the best use of the theatre and its facilities.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone in the earlier stages of their technical theatre career who already has some practical experience and is looking to develop their skills within a busy producing and receiving theatre. We are not looking for an expert in every discipline, but you should have a good technical foundation, a willingness to learn and an interest in lighting, sound, stage and venue operations.

Key responsibilities:

Support get-ins, performances and get-outs.
Assist with rigging, focusing and programming lighting.
Assist with installation and operation of sound equipment.
Operate lighting and/or sound for performances where appropriate.
Provide practical support to visiting companies.
Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
Help keep backstage, technical and storage areas safe and organised.
Assist with straightforward building maintenance and report larger issues.
Follow all Health & Safety and safe working procedures.
Provide technical support for rehearsals, hires and other venue activities.
Occasionally assist with opening and closing the building.

Skills and experience:

Some professional, educational or practical technical theatre experience.
Basic working knowledge of lighting, sound and/or stage systems.
Some experience supporting live performances or events.
Practical approach to problem-solving and willingness to learn.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Experience of ETC lighting desks, QLab, sound operation, get-ins/get-outs or basic maintenance is desirable but not essential.

How to Apply

Please apply in writing to [email protected]. Closing date is 30.09.26 at 23.59. Salary negotiable depending on experience.
