This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key technical role in bringing our students' work to life, supporting Romeo and Juliet at The Playhouse and our whole-school musical Mamma Mia, alongside A Level and Drama examination performances. Working closely with the Director of Drama, teaching staff, pupils and the wider production team, you will provide hands-on technical expertise across lighting, sound, rigging, set and staging, from initial preparation through to rehearsals and live performances. We are looking for someone with practical theatre experience, excellent technical and organisational skills, and a calm, proactive approach. Experience of working with young people or in an educational setting would be an advantage. Attend and support all scheduled performances, technical rehearsals and dress rehearsals, together with relevant production rehearsals.
Assist with the rigging, focusing and operation of lighting and theatrical equipment.
Set up, operate and programme sound and technical systems appropriate to each production.
Support the design, preparation and installation of sets, staging, props and technical elements.
Programme and operate lighting, sound and other theatrical control systems.
Provide technical advice and guidance to staff and pupils where appropriate.
Support pupils in developing their technical theatre skills, encouraging safe and responsible working practices.
Ensure that all technical work is undertaken in accordance with appropriate health and safety procedures, particularly when working at height, with electrical equipment, rigging etc.Useful Links
