Job Description

The Star Project is looking for a talented, passionate, and inspiring Theatre School Musical Director to join our growing team.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about teaching singing, developing young performers, and helping students grow in confidence, technique, and performance ability through musical theatre training.
The successful candidate will lead vocal rehearsals, teach harmonies and ensemble singing, support productions musically, and help create high-quality performances across our projects. They will also be responsible for editing rehearsal tracks and preparing vocal resources to support students outside of sessions where required.
We are searching for someone who is energetic, professional, reliable, and committed to inspiring young people through performing arts. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within our creative team while maintaining high standards across all projects and productions.
This role also offers exciting opportunities for progression and future creative collaboration within the company, including opportunities to support choreography, directing, and wider production development.

Teachin hours will be paid at £25 - £30 an hour dependant on experience. Admin hours will begin from £12.71 per hour.

Job Requirements

* Strong vocal and musical theatre knowledge
* Ability to accompany classes and rehearsals on piano/keyboard
* Experience teaching children and young people
* Confidence leading vocal rehearsals and ensemble singing
* Ability to edit and prepare music tracks using music editing software
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Passion for theatre education and supporting young performers
* Organised, reliable, and proactive attitude
* Ability to work collaboratively within a creative team
* Confident using emails, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms
* DBS check required
* Weekend availability during show periods required
* Working on: Tuesdays 5pm - 8pm in Cofton Hackett, Thursdays 5pm -8pm in Barnt Green, Saturdays 10am - 1pm in Droitwich. These will be the teaching hours with the students. There will be admin hours required within this job role that would consist of eiditng and cutting music and creating vocal and harmony tracks.

Job Responsibilities

* Teaching and developing vocal technique across all age groups
* Leading vocal warm-ups and singing rehearsals
* Teaching harmonies and ensemble singing
* Supporting students' vocal confidence and progression
* Coaching students in musical theatre singing and performance
* Accompanying rehearsals and classes using piano/keyboard
* Editing and preparing rehearsal and performance tracks
* Recording harmony and vocal tracks for student support where required
* Supporting auditions and vocal casting for productions
* Working collaboratively with Project Leaders and Teaching Staff
* Supporting Rehearsals, Mainstage Productions, workshops, and in-house productions
* Attending monthly management meetings and termly team meetings
* Supporting show preparation and project organisation where required
* Maintaining high standards across all projects and productions
