Burnley Youth Theatre are looking for a Textile Artist for a school project starting in January 2026.

Job Description

Burnley Youth Theatre will be delivering an arts based Primary School project called ' 'Fabric Of Us'' in January 2026 which combines Drama, Music and Textile with Heritage. It will be exploring community stories surrounding Burnley and Cliviger's Mill Town heritage and exploring the history of Walk Mill Shed (a former mill in Cliviger).

We are looking for a Textile Artist to work on the project with a Primary School based in Burnley. It will be working with 3 classes over 5 days (Reception, Year 1 and Year 4) to teach the children key skills in Textiles as well as create a piece of Textile art which will be a legacy for the project. The textile piece of art will contribute towards the community event which will take place in March where Drama, music and Textile work will be showcased to parents and the community.

Artist Set Fee = £1500 delivery (5 days delivery at £250 per day plus one day curation or for the event at £250 ) based on 6.5 hours over school day

Materials Budget = £500

Job Requirements

We are looking for a practitioner to work one day a week with the classes over 5 weeks and have a textile piece ready for Tuesday 17th March 2025 which is the day of the community celebration event. However, there is flexibility to this depending on artist availability and project idea.

Job Responsibilities

The artist is required to work with children aged 4-11. Experience delivering school based projects is desirable.
