Liaise with managers across the service to establish technical priorities for all sites and operations, manage requests and develop, plan and monitor an effective work programme.
Recruit, manage and develop a small team of technical staff aiming for the highest standards and ensure staff are properly trained and fully compliant in regard to relevant Health and Safety regulations and guidelines. Oversee any relevant work placements and volunteers.
Agree the use of freelance technicians and contractors where required with managers across the service and oversee their management and supervision ensuring they are properly trained and fully compliant with our respective Health and Safety regulations and guidelines.
Plan, supervise and undertake, where required technical work including the preparation and installation of exhibitions and displays, movement and handling of objects and loans.
Liaise with collections colleagues and other relevant internal and external stakeholders including designers and artists to understand any specific requirements of collections items and items on loan and advise on and manage the necessary technical support for handling (including packing and unpacking), storage, installation, maintenance and display. Ensure information is disseminated to relevant technical staff.
Identify technical solutions and relevant briefs and advise on viability. Job Requirements
