Description

Job Summary

Collaborate with our Game Master at the library to ensure the game has an engaging narrative & help players develop their role-playing skills. Provide voice-over narration for a series of podcasts following the campaign. Plan and lead four related public engagement activities for family activities.

Job Description

Do you have strong experience of delivering training in storytelling, role-playing, voice-acting or improvisation techniques? Are you able to work collaboratively with other creatives, and do you have experience working with young people? Are you interested in Table-Top Role-Playing Games (TTRPG) and/or Derby's local history?

If so, we need your skills and expertise to help ensure the blend of fantasy and historical fact within the campaign provides a strong and compelling narrative. Collaborate with the Game Master in developing engaging campaign story-lines and support our young volunteer players to develop their role-play skills. Narrate their recorded adventure and deliver workshops to help bring this exciting project to a wider audience.

Our project, made possible thanks to National Lottery players, will see young volunteers coming to the Local Studies Library to create a fantasy role-playing campaign, based on Dungeons and Dragons from Wizards of the Coast. They'll work alongside library staff, a Game Master and a range of professional creatives to uncover stories from the library's archival collection and weave them into the game.

The work you complete with the Game Master and volunteer players will enhance a full campaign pack, to be released for all to play towards the end of the project. Your skills will provide continuity and a compelling narrative for a series of podcasts, following the campaign as it is played and introducing the game and the library to a wider audience.

Timeframe: August 2025 - March 2027

Fee: £3,300 indicative of 12 days.

Derby-based.
