Job Description

Reece Sibbald Productions is seeking an experienced and reliable Sound Operator for our Christmas 2025 pantomime, Snow White, at the newly restored Roxy Theatre, Leadgate. This special production marks the grand reopening of the theatre following an extensive Art Deco restoration, and the first pantomime in the venue for over 90 years. The Sound Operator will play a vital role in delivering a polished and professional audio experience across all performances.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation of all sound elements during technical rehearsals and live performances. This includes the running of QLab, balancing of mics and playback tracks, ensuring radio mic functionality, and responding to live sound cues efficiently.

You will work closely with the production team, including the Director and Choreographer, to support the technical needs of the show.

You must be available for:

Rehearsals and tech from 4th December 2025 (9-12 hours per day)
All performances from 16th - 28th December 2025 (3.5 hours per show, 22 performances)

Fee starting from £1,500, varying upon experience of the applicant.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in operating live sound for theatre, ideally pantomime or musical productions.
  • Competency in QLab and live microphone mixing.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure during live performances.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
  • Availability for rehearsals from 4th December and performances 16th - 28th December 2025.
  • Understanding of theatre acoustics, sound design principles, and relevant safety practices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Mix live audio including radio microphones for cast and ensemble.
  • Conduct thorough sound checks prior to each performance.
  • Liaise with the production team to ensure accurate and dynamic sound levels throughout.
  • Troubleshoot audio issues quickly and efficiently during tech and live shows.
  • Set up, maintain, and pack down sound equipment as required.
