Brixton House is looking for an experienced Senior Technician to help deliver bold, high-quality performance and events in our dynamic cultural venue.

Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Senior Technician will lead on the technical planning and delivery of productions and events at Brixton House. You will work hands-on across lighting, sound, video, and show control, while also supervising teams, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the smooth running of our technical operations.
The role is worked across a flexible rota and includes evening and weekend work, reflecting the nature of the live performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the technical planning and delivery of productions, events, tours, and projects
Act as Duty Technician and lead technician on productions and events
Operate and programme lighting consoles, digital sound desks, and show control systems (including QLab)
Lead get-ins, fit-ups, get-outs, and vehicle loading/unloading
Supervise and lead freelance technicians and technical teams
Prepare, install, test, operate, and maintain technical equipment
Produce technical plans, plots, and schedules for events and productions
Attend production meetings, planning meetings, and rehearsals as required
Lead on equipment maintenance and contribute to departmental maintenance planning
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety policies
Work confidently at height and safely operate access and lifting equipment
Play an active role in the wider life and culture of Brixton House

Job Requirements

Essential

Substantial experience working in a performance venue or the creative/live events industry
Proven experience operating and programming lighting consoles and digital sound desks
Experience with show control software, particularly QLab
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and supervising teams
Excellent technical problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
Confidence working at height and using access equipment
Strong understanding of health and safety practices in the entertainment industry
Willingness to work unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends
Computer literate and highly organised

Desirable

Formal qualification in performance or theatre technology
Experience with sound editing software
Experience in set construction and/or CAD
Experience using lifting machinery in performance venues
