Lindon & Co. is an art dealership led by James Lindon and Alicia Norman-Butler, with premises in Mayfair. We deal primarily with Modern and Contemporary Art in both primary and secondary markets, working closely with galleries, private clients, and art world individuals across all aspects of collection building.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the transportation, handling, installation, and management of artworks under the company's purview. The candidate will be responsible for collection record keeping, condition reporting, inventory and general care of objects as well as assisting the directors in the preparation of offers, artwork research, preparing for art fairs, organisation of travel, office management and being the project manager for any presentation of small shows that are put on in the viewing room/gallery space etc. We are a very small team of two directors and a consultant and so are looking for someone to really own this role.

Job Requirements

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar environment be it a gallery, art advisory or auction house.

Previous experience of working with ArtLogic is desired.

Keen interest and good knowledge of post-war and contemporary art.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an independent self-starter.

Job Responsibilities

Registrar Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining inventory in ArtLogic
  • Providing all shipping and packing quotes for clients and directors, ensuring all export documents are saved and filed to the database
  • Managing the safe-keeping of artworks at the gallery and storage
  • Being the main point of contact for the collection, delivery and storage of artworks
  • Liaising with shippers, agents and freelance technicians
  • Guiding the team on all customs issues/restrictions
  • Overseeing and managing loan and consignment agreements
  • Overseeing packing/unpacking, condition reporting, storage and installation of all artworks
  • Arrange insurance of artworks both in transit and situ
  • Negotiate competitive shipping rates
  • Ensure all expenses are controlled, noted and reported to Director

Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Track expenses and manage budgets for artist/artwork presentations within the gallery space.
  • Acting as the leader on any exhibitions or shows that are put on in the viewing space.
