Contract Type: Freelance/Contract position, with duration aligned to the project's milestones with an initial 12-month contract. Work hours are flexible with an anticipated average commitment of six days per month over a 12-month period. Fees payable against invoice at £300 per day.

Job Requirements

Experience: Project management background in heritage, conservation, museum projects, or related cultural initiatives. Proven success in managing complex heritage preservation and educational programs. Familiarity with heritage craft preservation and training is advantageous.
Skills: Excellent organisational and leadership abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities and stakeholders. Strong budget and financial management skills with a focus on cost control. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
Degree or professional qualification in arts, architecture, project management, heritage conservation, or related field. PMP or similar certification is preferred.
Personal Attributes: Passion for heritage and education, committed to traditional craft skills. Strong problem-solving, proactive, and creative in handling challenges. Diplomatic and collaborative in stakeholder engagement, aiming to benefit the community and heritage sector.

Job Responsibilities

Lead the Rory Young House project, combining its museum and heritage craft training. Work with the Board, stakeholders, and consultants to meet goals while preserving the building's history and supporting educational activities. Develop a timeline for house development, training, and visitor experiences aligned with exhibitions and workshops. Manage the budget, create a business plan, and develop income strategies. Coordinate fundraising with trustees and development experts for Phase 1 Capital. Serve as the main stakeholder contact, ensuring transparency and updates. Collaborate with heritage experts to maintain restoration standards and align training with heritage crafts, promoting community skills. Supervise quality, ensure standards, and regulatory compliance. Identify risks early, implement mitigation, and resolve issues quickly. Lead a diverse team fostering collaboration. Engage the community, coordinate marketing, and promote the museum's cultural and educational impact.
