We are looking for a highly organised and technically proficient Production Stage Manager to work with us on a new play by Conor Hunt as part of a three-week run at the Pleasance Theatre, Islington in October 2026. Produced by Attic Theatre Company, Boyhood is an explosive and urgent new play by Conor Hunt with a live hip-hop soundtrack created by multi-award-winning hip-hop theatre maker Conrad Murray. The show navigates mates, masculinity, and unexpected fatherhood and features a lead performer alongside a female beatboxer/vocalist who steps into multiple characters; a production where live-looping and professional beatboxing feature as heavily as the text. The Production Stage Manager will provide pre-production support to coordinate the logistics of the production, get-in and get-out, liaise with the venue's technical team and act as stage manager throughout the rehearsal period. During the run of the show, the PSM will support with operating the lighting and any additional sound effects or accompanying music. The majority of the soundscape and music within the production will be controlled from the stage via a looping station. Given this, the ideal candidate will have strong, solid experience of sound set-up and maintenance and experience of managing integrated technical elements and intricate soundscapes. Boyhood will play as part of a double bill at the Pleasance and so may require some nightly set clearance (TBC), and we aim to tour the show to our home borough of Merton for a select number of 'Unplugged' performances during the 3-week run. Dates: Fee: £631.00 per week plus holiday pay and pension contributions, plus a £1,000 flat fee for pre-production/production management support. Work alongside the Attic team (Artistic Director, Executive Director & Engagement Producer), including liaising with the Composer, Lighting designer and Designer during the Pre-production Phase to realise all the required elements of the production and coordinate a smooth rehearsal period. Liaise with the venue's technical management regarding tech specs, risk assessments, equipment hire, and managing the prompt get-in / get-out turnaround process between shared evening performances. Schedule and manage all rehearsals, tech periods, and performances. Act as Company Manager for the cast and act as the primary bridge between the Cast, Creative Team, and Venue. Operate all technical cues (lighting, sound effects and/or AV) during the run and produce clear and detailed show reports. Essential Requirements Technical expertise including lighting: rigging, focusing, plotting and operating lighting; set up, mixing and operating of sound Stage production, including basic set building experience and maintenance, functional carpentry skills with the ability to manage quick setup/strike turnarounds in a shared venue space. A full clean driving licence and experience driving a van.
