Preservation Technician, Imperial War Museum

This is an exciting opportunity for a Preservation Technician to join a friendly team delivering preventive conservation activities at IWM Duxford, that include integrated pest management, environmental monitoring, and conservation cleaning.

Responsibilities will include:

• Developing and delivering a programme of conservation cleaning for objects on display and in stores
• Providing support to the museum's busy Exhibition and Film programme
• Maintaining the Collections Emergency Response Equipment and participating in audits.
• Keeping electronic and paper-based records of work done
• Supervising volunteers and contractors and providing training when necessary

The ideal candidate will have some experience from working in museum collections/housekeeping and/or Preservation/Conservation, alongside a keen interest in 20th-century history. They should be able to demonstrate good manual dexterity and a methodical approach, as well as the capacity to work from ladders at heights of up to 15 metres.

Please note: this role will involve some working at height, for which training will be given.
