We are a growing Asian-style ceramic studio located in Hackney Wick, and we are currently seeking passionate wheel-throwing instructors to join our team. We offer a creative, relaxed, and welcoming work environment that fosters artistic growth and collaboration.

We are looking for part-time instructors to lead our wheel-throwing course. The ideal candidate will possess experience in ceramics, have a good understanding with Asian ceramic culture and techniques, and be capable of independently managing 2.5-hour classes for up to 6 students. If you have a knowledge of Asian ceramic and a passion for sharing your expertise, we would love to hear from you!

Candidates should be well-versed in various Asian pottery techniques and have a solid understanding of Asian ceramic culture.

Start: Dec 2025 or Jan 2026

Hours: 2-8 hours per week, primarily on weekdays evenings, weekend daily time.

Salary: £15-£18/h, based on experience and skills, with potential pay rise as you grow with the studio.

Students: 2-6 students every class, might increase with studio development.

Job Requirements

  1. Proficient in wheel-throwing (counter-clockwise), with at least 3 years of experience.
  2. Good communication and adaptability skills.
  3. Fluent in spoken English, with the ability to teach in English.
  4. Capable of planning and organising class content effectively.
  5. Patient, detail-oriented, and dedicated to teaching.
  6. Prior teaching experience is preferred.
  7. Support students' learning by offering guidance and feedback throughout the class.
  8. Encourage students to explore further courses and develop their practice.
  9. Help shape and refine classes to keep them inspiring and true to the studio's vision.
  10. A positive attitude and a genuine willingness to be part of our team.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Conduct a 6-8 week beginner/intermediate wheel-throwing course, covering skills such as centring, throwing bowls, cups, attaching handles, and crafting small vases, teapots etc.
  2. Lead taster Wheel Throwing workshops.
  3. Provide a course outline, schemes of work, lesson plans and individual project briefs as required.
