Cell Project Space is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Gallery Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is passionate about contemporary art and eager to gain practical experience across all aspects of gallery operations. An excellent knowledge of contemporary art an educated to degree level. Both academic and practice based applicants will be considered. A minimum of one year's experience working within a gallery, visual arts or media arts organisation, or a professional artist's studio is essential. Candidates must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and cloud-based systems such as Dropbox and Google Workspace. Communications and digital design The primary purpose of the Gallery Assistant role is to support the delivery of Cell Project Space's exhibitions and public programme. Working closely with the Cell Project Space team to provide practical support during exhibition installation, including preparing gallery spaces, assisting artists, and helping ensure exhibitions are delivered to a high professional standard. The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong self-management, practical problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to work collaboratively with artists, curators, and colleagues. The role has two principal areas of responsibility:
Providing an excellent visitor experience during public opening hours by maintaining a welcoming and professional front-of-house presence, engaging confidently with visitors, and responding to enquiries from the public.
