We are recruiting a freelance art tutor to join our team at Art for Life Sutton Coldfield. 1-2 days per week on Tuesdays/Wednesdays as well as 1 Saturday morning per month (Start date and hours to be discussed at interview). £15 per hour 8 hour shift.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced art tutor to join our team.
Art for Life offer weekly art classes across a variety of mediums (incl. graphite/charcoals/pastels/watercolour & acrylics). We explore different weekly projects from landscapes to portraits to animals to flowers (and everything in between!).
We are looking for a passionate artist to join our fabulous team. Our courses are held in 10 week blocks 3 times a year and some shorter 5 week courses too. Classes run on Monday evenings 6.30pm to 9.30pm, Tuesday mornings 10am to 1pm and evenings 6.30pm to 9.30pm, and Wednesdays 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. In addition to this, we also run adhoc workshops mainly on Saturday mornings and occasional art evenings on a Thursday or Friday.

- The role is for 1-2 days per week, throughout the year, for our 10 week courses which run 3 times/year (term time usually).
- Opportunity for more work through our ad hoc art workshops.
- You'll be responsible for showing our lovely adult learners how to create wonderful artwork using various mediums and techniques.
About you:
- You've worked in similar roles before and have strong experience in tutoring art to groups or individuals.
- You are capable of producing good artwork in pencil, pastel, watercolour and acrylic paint and feel comfortable demonstrating your skills to groups of around 20 people.
- You are friendly and approachable, and have great communication skills which you use to build strong relationships with your students.
- You're able to think on your feet and respond honestly to the demands of the students.
- Qualification in fine art and/or teaching preferred, but not essential
- Engage with our adult learners, building rapport to create a fun, sociable and welcoming environment.
- Show students how to use different mediums and techniques.
- Be able to follow detailed lesson plans.
- Demonstrate how to create drawings and paintings, step by step.
- Provide one-to-one support and answer questions in class.
- Support learners in 3 hour sessions.
- Help to set up and set down the room to create a supportive environment for our students to work in. (This does involve moving tables and packing away at the end of the day).
