Job Description

At our Maidstone branch, the Part-Time Art Teacher is responsible for delivering the classes and supporting running the studio, with time split across teaching and class preparation (75%), and administration and promotion (25%). Full training is provided in our teaching methods, with ongoing support from our central team and a national network of art teachers.

Working Hours & Schedule:

This is a part-time role with a fixed schedule during term time and adjusted hours during school holidays:

  • Term Time: 8 hours per week on Monday plus one additional day (to be agreed).

    Monday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
    One additional day: To be confirmed
  • School Holidays (14 weeks/year): The same number of hours will be worked between Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with the exact daily schedule varying based on the needs of the studio.

Salary: Dependent on the number of hours worked. For 8 hours per week, the annual salary is £5,782.40.

Fixed salary, which will increase as the studio grows. Promotional opportunities are available every term.

Start of the Role: 1st or 8th December, to be confirmed

Job Requirements

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds an art degree or equivalent experience across a range of artistic mediums.
  • Has experience teaching or working with children in an educational or creative setting.
  • Possesses strong communication skills, including the ability to empathise with others, to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Exhibits a positive, proactive attitude and works well both independently and as part of a team.

Job Responsibilities

Teaching & Child Development

Teach children who love art in a fun, supportive environment with high teacher-student ratios. Deliver engaging, skill-based programmes tailored to individual needs during term time and fun, interactive sessions during holidays. Monitor progress, prepare personalised plans, and create a safe, inspiring space for students to flourish.

Training & Professional Development

Take part in a two-year training programme covering teaching methods, art techniques, child development, and business administration. Continuously develop artistic and teaching skills to enhance delivery.

Studio Management

Support studio operations, manage art materials, and mentor assistants to align with studio goals. Track growth, retention, and customer satisfaction to uphold art-K standards. Engage the community, coordinate events, manage bookings per GDPR, and follow safeguarding and H&S policies.
