Delivered by experienced teachers, artists and academics, this specialist CPD is designed to support professional sculptors and 3D artists working across all processes to translate their practice into meaningful learning experiences for children and young people. Participants will explore how different forms of sculptural practice can be applied within the art and design curriculum (KS1-KS5) including developing interdisciplinary and cross-curricular approaches that connect with mathematics, science and design-led learning. The training will focus on how to design and deliver high-quality workshops, residencies and projects with an emphasis on place-based learning and public sculpture contexts. Artists will develop pedagogical approaches and gain practical insight into working effectively within classrooms, including managing groups sizes, collaborating with teachers, delivering to different age ranges, addressing inclusion and access, and working confidently with diverse learners across a range of educational settings. The training will also provide guidance on pathways into sustained schools work, including how to develop opportunities, build relationships with schools and move towards longer-term residency commissions. Each regional 2 day training programme will feature: Two full-day, in-person training sessions (delivered by Pangaea teachers and partner academics) One-to-one mentoring with experienced teachers and artist-educators An optional in-school placement day, supporting classroom delivery at primary or secondary level (subject to Enhanced DBS clearance) Practical frameworks, resources and delivery models to support immediate application in schools Ongoing opportunities to engage with Pangaea Education networks There is a bursary payment of £750 per artist to support time and travel with 30 funded places available (10 per region). The dates for each are Manchester (22-23 July 2026), Birmingham (27-28 July 2026) and London (29-30 July 2026) We welcome applications from artists working across a wide range of sculptural practices, including modelling, carving, construction and fabrication, as well as installation, public and place-based work, digital and hybrid processes, and socially engaged or participatory approaches.
