Job Description

A paid first step into your creative career.

Jumped Up Theatre is recruiting Young Leaders aged 18-25 to join New Creatives, our free programme for young people in Peterborough making original theatre about the environment.

Young Leaders are paid participants in New Creatives, not outside staff. Alongside a leadership role, you're part of the group: you'll work with a professional artist, support and mentor a younger group of New Creatives (16-18), and help shape an original piece of theatre from the ground up. No experience needed - full training and mentoring included.

We've set the age range at 18-25 for two reasons. Young Leaders mentor a younger group of participants aged 16-18, and being close in age lets them relate to what those participants are going through and build trust as peers, not as distant adult staff. New Creatives also exists to open up the arts to young people who don't always get the chance to break in, so this role is a genuine first step rather than a job for an established facilitator.

At a glance:
Pay: £13.45/hr (Real Living Wage)
Dates: Late Oct 2026 - Aug 2027
Commitment: 2.5 hrs/week, term time
Location: Peterborough City Centre

This role is offered on a self-employed basis; you'll handle your own tax and NI.

We particularly welcome applicants who've faced barriers to entering the arts or don't often see themselves represented in theatre.

Apply in writing, video or audio - details at jumpeduptheatre.com/vacancies. Closes 30 Sept 2026.
