Description

Job Summary

Peregrine Circus is a collective of acrobats, artists and musicians united by a love of live performance. We are seeking jazz musicians for our 2027 touring show. Welsh language is desirable. Weekly wage and private accommodation provided. We’d love to hear from horn players, drummers, and singers.

Job Description

Born in the heart of North Wales, Peregrine Circus travels between towns and villages, a collective of acrobats, artists and musicians; united by a love of live performance and a deep connection to the landscapes and legends of the land.

Peregrine Circus is a traditional, all-human, village green circus: no animals, only people, artistry, and the art that they create together.

For our 2027 season, we are seeking versatile jazz musicians:

Drummer (with backing vocal ability preferred)

Multi-instrumentalist with lead vocal ability (ideally wind/horn instruments: saxophone, trumpet, or clarinet)

We also welcome applications from other versatile instrumentalists. Doubling instrumentalists are highly desired.

The band will perform and devise an original live score mixed with new arrangements, drawing heavily on jazz and blues.

Welsh language skills are desired - or a willingness to learn one or two songs in Welsh.

Following a two-week rehearsal period (commencing 27th April) the 2027 season will tour between 8th May - 19th September with 7 shows per week.

You will be paid a weekly wage at industry-standard rates, and private accommodation is provided. The show will tour beautiful locations across the coast, mountains, and historic towns of Wales, with one day off a week to explore.

This is a true community touring circus. In addition to performing, all ensemble members are expected to help build and pack down our big top tent and site infrastructure. A full UK driving licence is desirable.

You will join a highly skilled, close-knit company of acrobats and artists. We require an enthusiastic and energetic approach to performance on stage - you will be an integral part of the whole show and visible as part of the narrative cast.

There may be opportunities for work in future seasons.

Job Requirements

Experienced touring musician with a strong background in jazz/blues. Solid improvisational foundation, and ability to adapt arrangements live to acrobatic movement.

Drummer (backing vocals desirable) or lead singer doubling on horn/wind instruments (trumpet, saxophone, clarinet). Other doubling instrumentalists welcome.

Welsh language skills highly desirable.

High energy, stage presence, and willingness to perform as an integrated, visible character within the onstage cast.

Adaptable, collaborative team player suited to close-knit communal touring, outdoor weather, and hands-on site setup (building and taking down the big top tent and staging on move days).

Full UK Driving Licence (and experience driving vans or towing) is desirable.
