Frome Town Band seeks a new Musical Director. The ideal candidate will be self-employed. They will be a skilled brass player , with experience of running ensembles and events, who has an enthusiasm for and a vision towards driving the organisation forward. The successful candidate will have a commitment to, and understanding of, the value of music and the arts to young peoples' development and to the mental health of all people of all ages. They should have the ability to work flexibly and, where necessary, be available in evenings and weekends by agreement. Our new musical director should have strong collaborative skills, but also the ability to work independently and to manage their own time. Frome Town Band is a charity organisation. It is run by a committee who are all playing members and is governed by its trustees. We are a friendly community band, with an active gig calendar and in excess of 50 members. Our rolling programme welcomes people from complete beginner to pro, to be part of the band through three groups - beginners, intermediates and main band. We also run an active and successful outreach project, which reaches directly into schools to enthuse youngsters to enter the world of brass from an early age. In the band's history many members have gone on to become successful musicians, including (but not limited to) 2 recent members who went on to the Royal Academy and won awards at the Royal College of Music.
