Job Summary

CK Theatre School is seeking an upbeat and inspiring Musical Director to join our creative team for our upcoming production of High School Musical this autumn.

Job Description

You'll be working with enthusiastic young performers aged 6-18, guiding them through the vocal and musical elements of the show. We're looking for someone who not only teaches notes and harmonies but also inspires performers to bring energy, dynamics, and confidence to their singing.

While the performance itself will use licensed MTI backing tracks, we would love an MD who can also lead rehearsals on piano.

Rehearsals (Chorleywood, Hertfordshire - WD3 5LN):

  • Sunday 14th September
  • Sunday 28th September
  • Sunday 5th October
  • Sunday 12th October
  • Sunday 19th October
  • Saturday 25th October
  • Monday 27th - Thursday 30th October (half-term intensive week)

Tech/Dress & Performances (Elgiva Theatre, Chesham - HP5 1HR):

  • Friday 31st October & Saturday 1st November

Details:

  • Approx. 70 hours across the dates above
  • £22/hour (total fee in the region of £1,500)
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS (we can assist with this)
  • Professional reference and ID check required

Job Requirements

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Ability to inspire, challenge, and stretch young performers
  • Strong rehearsal leadership skills, ideally with piano ability

Job Responsibilities

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Teaching the songs to the performers
  • Developing their vocal performances through musical direction and coaching
  • Inspiring the young performers alongside the director and choreographer
