Contract: Temporary | 3 Days per Week Duration: w/c 2nd June – 10th July 2025 Key Dates: Performances on 8th, 9th & 10th July (daytime & evenings) Rate: Competitive, based on experience (between £3.6K and £4.5K)

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic music teacher / pianist to join our team in supporting the summer musical production of Oliver! at a vibrant primary school. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children across Years 1 to 6 and has experience in school or youth theatre settings. Candidate must be a strong pianist and be able to lead groups of children in song from the piano.

Job Requirements

  • Strong piano proficiency with the ability to sight-read and adapt to different skill levels
  • Experience working with children and a good understanding of their developmental needs
  • Ability to take direction, but also lead small musical groups when required
  • Familiarity with musical theatre repertoire (previous school production experience is a plus)
  • Good communication and collaboration skills

A positive, flexible attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced, creative environment

Desirable:

  • Ability to assist with vocal coaching or basic music arrangement
  • Experience creating or adapting simple accompaniments for children's voices
  • Understanding of the safeguarding responsibilities in a school setting

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead rehearsals and support vocal/musical preparation for students in Years 1-6
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff to ensure smooth rehearsals and performances
  • Assist in running sectional rehearsals and supporting musical direction as needed

Attend and accompany the full-day rehearsals and evening performances on 8th, 9th, and 10th July
