We have a unique opportunity for a multi-disciplinary outdoor artist to work with Ciceley Haughton School in Wetley Rocks as part of our Creative Freedom Programme.

Ciceley Haughton provide education for 56 pupils aged 4 to 11 years. They are a specialist school for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties, whose needs can not be met within a mainstream environment.

As part of our programme the school have been exploring their extensive outdoor area and are keen to continue this exploration and how it links to their curriculum objectives. They are keen to work with someone who can work with all of their student groups shared over the duration of the project. Learning Objectives that they would like to address:

  • Material sculptural manipulation
  • Relief sculptural techniques
  • Collage and drawing
  • Texture, pattern, line and shape
  • Representations of the human face and human figure
  • Urban landscapes
  • Make links with contemporary and historical artists

We are looking for someone with a track record of delivering high quality art experiences and working with children and teachers that is supportive, inclusive and collaborative (and above all fun!).

You will also need a track record of planning, creating risk assessments and supporting the collection of monitoring data, evaluation and reflection with the school and young people.

Job Requirements

20 half days of artist contact time in school.

Sessions would run on Mondays between 11:30 - 14:30pm.

1 day supporting external visit to cultural organisation
5 days prep/planning time to include:
Induction session (date TBC)
Attendance at 2 x Peer to Peer sharing forums
Support the planning and delivery of a sharing event in Summer Term

Fee: £4000 inclusive of all expenses including VAT.

There is a separate materials budget to support this project.

All applicants must have an enhanced DBS check, or be willing to undergo a check, and £5 million Public Liability Insurance cover.

Deadline: Tuesday 2nd December 5.00pm

Activity to commence in January.
