Description
Join the Imperial War Museums (IWM) Collections Care team as a Movement & Storage Assistant (Visual Documentation) and play a vital role in preserving history. We’re hiring five new team members to support our Visual Documentation Project, focusing on medals and licensed collections.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately mark, label, photograph, and document objects including medals and licensed items (e.g. firearms, controlled drugs, human tissue).
- Update records in our Collections Management System (Axiell Collections).
- Support core museum projects including object movement, storage reorganisation, and basic conservation tasks.
- Identify risks or defects and report them to the Project Manager.
- Supervise contractors and staff accessing collections.
- Follow strict health and safety protocols and legislative requirements.
About You:
We're looking for individuals who are:
- Detail-oriented and organised, comfortable working in a team and managing a busy workload.
- Experienced in environments where items are tracked, sorted, and recorded accurately.
- Aware of health and safety practices (training provided).
- Ready to work hands-on with unique and sensitive historical objects.
