Job Summary

Trafalgar Theatre Productions are seeking an experienced LX No. 1 to join the current UK & Ireland tour of Fiddler on the Roof. Following a recent transfer to London's Barbican Theatre this summer, the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Fiddler on the Roof embarks on a UK and Ireland tour.

Job Description

Fiddler on the Roof explores life in the village of Anatevka in 1905, where Tevye, a Jewish milkman, grapples with changing traditions as his daughters challenge his beliefs. The musical features songs including "If I Were A Rich Man", "Tradition", "Matchmaker", and "Sunrise, Sunset."

The LX No. 1 will be be responsible for all aspects of production lighting for the duration of the tour, including load-ins, rigging, programming, show operating, and moving between venues, in consultation with the production team and Lighting Designer.

Job Requirements

Candidates' experience should include:

  • Experience of similar roles in a large-scale touring theatre environment

  • Experience with timecode, lighting systems and LED technology

  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety guidelines and working practices

  • Ability to troubleshoot and adapt in accordance with the requirements of each venue

  • The ability work calmly under pressure and manage a team

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include:

  • To be responsible for all aspects of production lighting for the duration of the tour, including load-ins, rigging, programming, show operating, and moving between venues, in consultation with the production team and Lighting Designer.

  • To work with the creative team and Production Manager to realise the production's Lighting Design to the highest standards

  • To actively contribute to the effective operation of the Lighting Department's work

  • To manage other members of the Lighting team

  • To take lead responsibility for planning and supervising the maintenance and testing of lighting equipment, and lighting infrastructure and ensure it complies with current regulations
  • To ensure compliance across the Lighting team with all safety procedures and statutory regulations

  • Any other duties reasonably required by the Lighting Designer, Company Manager, and General Manager
