This senior management position is the customer service lead for the organisation, heading up a team of library assistants working across all activities. In addition to ensuring the smooth operation of services and being the main liaison point for most members, visitors and contractors, the role includes overseeing book conservation, managing group visits, volunteer liaison, environmental monitoring, contributing to the process of book selection, planning and collaborating on strategic objectives. Experience of managing or leading a team, ideally within the libraries/ heritage/ cultural or related sector, is essential, along with excellent customer service and communication skills, a passion for literature and heritage, a practical approach to problem solving and the ability to remain calm and resourceful in a busy environment.
