We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, energetic Lead Actor and Facilitator to join our team and perform our new Anti-Bullying Theatre Show for Primary Schools - 'The Power of Kindness'

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Lead Actor and Facilitator to join our team and perform our new Anti-Bullying Theatre Show for Primary Schools - 'The Power of Kindness'

'The Power of Kindness' is an exciting 45 minute theatre performance, performed by one Actor / Facilitator. The show contains puppetry, circus skills and an audio-visual presentation.

After the show, you will deliver drama based Anti-Bullying Workshops.

Although this is a one person show, rehearsals will be highly collaborative, you will rehearse alongside the other show performers in a group setting.

Full training is provided.

We are seeking a reliable performer that is confident with learning lines, and working independently.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced solo performer, or a new challenge for a performer to gain invaluable experience performing a one person show, and learn new skills.

We are particularly interested in hearing from actors in the following areas:

  • London (and surrounding counties)
  • Hertfordshire
  • Surrey
  • Hampshire
  • Kent

Applicants must be available for the following dates:

  • Observation Day: 1 x day in September or October TBC
  • In-Person Group Rehearsals:
    Monday 27th October - Thursday 30th October 2025
  • Performing: (Week days only)
    W/C 3rd November 2025
    W/C 10th November 2025
    W/C 17th November 2025
    W/C 24th November 2025
  • Possible extension dates:
    W/C 1st December 2025

All performances and workshops are within the school day. (Usually between 8am - 3:30pm)

Fee:

  • Rehearsal Fee: £400 (£100 per day).
  • Performances: £825 per week plus travel contributions.

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • Based in London or surrounding counties.
  • Confident in journey planning to a variety of locations and excellent with timekeeping.
  • Experience of working with large groups of primary aged children, at least 25 children in one group at a time.
  • Reliable with a proven track record of working independently.
  • See the value of working with children and young people to help them to live successful, happy lives, by using drama and theatre as a tool to do this.
  • Willing to travel in your own vehicle, or another suitable form of transport.
  • Positive, 'can-do' attitude.
  • A current enhanced DBS check. (Within 2 years, or on the update service.) If you need to have one processed, we can arrange this at your own cost.
  • A Laptop with PowerPoint (Offline Version)
  • Bluetooth Speaker (Small, used as a backup)

Desirable:

  • Experience performing to a large group of young people, either in a team or solo - Up to 300 students.

Job Responsibilities

  • Travelling to primary schools in London and the surrounding counties with our travel-friendly set.
  • Delivering the Anti-Bullying workshops and show to a high standard.
  • Learning and preparing the Show and Workshops materials to a high standard in advance of rehearsals.
  • To meet the contact teacher, and communicate politely and positively on arrival.
  • To plan journeys to arrive promptly for each day.
  • To set up the theatre set, props, puppets, PowerPoint and ensure all is in working order each day.
  • To adhere to OpenView Education's Safeguarding policy.
  • To complete some modules on safeguarding before the role commences.
  • To upload some short, selected clips of the Show before attending rehearsals.

How to Apply

Tuesday 19th or Wednesday 20th August 2025: First round interview on Zoom. This will last approximately 20 minutes.

Wednesday 27th August 2025: Second round in person audition at a London Location TBC. This will be an activities based audition, performers will also perform an excerpt from the Show. This round will last approximately three hours.
