We are looking for someone to work full - time (5 days per week) in our long-established shop selling specialist fine art materials. This position would suit someone with experience and interest in the use and sale of artists' materials, with particular emphasis on painting, pigments, drawing, printmaking, calligraphy and gilding. In addition, the role includes a substantial administrative dimension through the making of orders with suppliers and the management of Cornelissen's relationships with a selected supplier group. The position involves a thorough immersion into the mechanics of the business and in its presentations. There will be opportunities to develop a career over time and to broaden the work experience, either with Cornelissen or with another company within our group. Previous retail experience preferred. Salary starting at £26,000. Excellent communication skills. Fluent English speaker. Numerate. Knowledge and practical experience of fine art materials. Educated to degree level or higher. Advising shop customers in the choice and use of fine art materials. Processing payments. Placing orders with suppliers. Processing incoming deliveries including some lifting and carrying. Maintaining stock levels. Maintaining clean and organised presentation of stock both on the shop floor and in store room.
