We are seeking passionate and inspiring rappers and producers to join our growing team. This role is crucial to the continued expansion and success of our Ark Rap Clubs, which provide a vital space for young people to develop their artistic skills, explore their identity, and connect with their wider culture and community. As a Rap Club Leader, you'll guide students, fostering a positive creative environment and helping them to build confidence, develop rap technique, and understand the music industry. You'll be instrumental in inspiring the next generation of talented rappers and contributing to a programme that champions all types of music and musicians in our schools. Fee We are interested in hearing from both early career AND experienced artists. We operate a sliding scale depending on experience / length of the call/engagement. A 'one hour' club Led by a trainee = £13 Led by an early-career artists = £29 Led by an experienced Teaching Artist = £58 Engagement Placements with individual schools are one hour per week for up to 30 weeks (term time) across the school year, arranged in consultation with you / the school, starting in September 2026. We also regularly availability check our freelance team for other projects/events included one-off workshops.
Essential An emerging OR established artist with a background in performing, writing, and/or producing Ability to inspire young people and model positive, respectful adult interactions. Demonstrated ability to foster a positive, safe, and collaborative creative space for young people. Strong understanding of rap technique, lyric writing, and performance skills. Desirable Knowledge of industry practices and roles within the music industry. Experience in training and developing student leaders. A clear interest in rap music and a passion for developing the skills of young people.
Lead weekly Rap Club sessions during term time Provide a positive and safe creative space that fosters trust, friendship, safety, and connection among young people. Develop students' rap technique, lyric writing, and performance skills. Educate students on industry practices and various roles within the music industry. Train student rap leaders to help grow and sustain the school's rap provision in future years. Model positive and respectful adult interactions between school staff and students Identify and support students who have a clear interest in rap, would benefit from a safe space to tell their story through rap, would benefit from exploring young Black culture, or are strong producers passionate about music of Black origin. Prepare students for participation in "Rap Club Live" in the spring term, which includes workshops, cyphers, and competitive performances.
