Job Summary

EDiT. is looking for a reliable and detail oriented Gallery Assistant to join our team on a part time basis starting at 12-15 days a month - with a possibility for the role to grow.

Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a quickly growing gallery, even if you don't have experience in the arts. The successful applicant will be flexible - weekend and evening availability are a regular requirement.

You will have excellent customer service experience and confidence working independently. Starting as an assistant role, this job is designed to grow as we do and therefore we are looking for ambitious individuals to join the team who will enjoy building lasting relationships that benefit the gallery.

HOURS: 12-15 days a month. Flexibility is essential as weekend and occasional evening work will be required. The standard working day is 11am - 7.30pm with a 30 min unpaid lunch break.

PLACES OF WORK: Primarily at our new site on Neal St, Covent Garden WC2H 9DA with some shifts at EDiT. 2 Greenwich Market, SE10 and EDiT. HQ, E9.

PAY: £14 per hour plus commission.

Job Requirements

The following qualities are a must:

  • Knowledge and interest in art - particularly urban contemporary.
  • Organised and a competent administrator.
  • Confident using power tools.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Strong attention to detail - both in the physical space and within your desk work.
  • Flexibility regarding hours, particularly during exhibition changes and events (you will be informed ahead of time).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Great communication skills and a professional, courteous demeanour.
  • Attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Opening and closing the gallery
  • Sale of artworks and order management
  • Conducting framing consultations
  • Handling and storing artworks
  • Goods in and website admin
  • Other ad hoc responsibilities to support the gallery manager
