Description
As Maintenance Assistant, you will assist in the oversee of operations across all Sheffield Museums sites and be responsible for ensuring the safe, secure, efficient and sustainable operation of buildings, facilities and services.
The Job
The purpose of the job is to:
- support the Head of Operations to ensure the safe, secure & efficient operation of the buildings, facilities & services.
- Work flexibly across sites, supporting the Head of Operations & site management teams to deliver a quality visitor experience.
- Demonstrate excellent behaviours & a proactive approach, setting a positive example for colleagues & visitors.
The Bigger Picture
You will:
- Ensure visitor spaces are maintained to a high standard, creating a safe, welcoming, & well-presented environment.
- Act as a point of contact for day-to-day maintenance tasks across SMT' sites.
- Support the effective delivery of planned inspections, routine checks, & general maintenance.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of SMT's strategic plan by providing reliable & proactive maintenance support.
The Day to Day
You will:
- Undertake general maintenance tasks, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical (Experience preferred but not essential), & HVAC checks & maintenance.
- Complete routine inspections of the museum sites & equipment & recording information & addressing maintenance issues promptly.
- Respond to maintenance requests from the management team.
- Assist with the setup & dismantling of seasonal set up in conjunction with Technical & wider teams.
- Monitor equipment ensuring they are in safe working condition & details recorded in line with the trust's requirements.
- Support emergency response.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations.
- Maintain records of maintenance work & checks completed in line with the trust requirements.
- Coordinate & supervise external contractors to ensure works are completed adequately & safely.
- Conduct checks & duct clean on roof areas where required
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have working knowledge of premises and plant maintenance issues
- Have working knowledge of health and safety practices and experience in adhering to risk assessments is preferable.
- Be operationally hands-on and be able to respond to maintenance requests from the management team.
- Have a reliable approach and positive attitude to solving problems
- Be enthusiastic and committed
- Be able to self-motivate and work on own initiative, whilst committed to the aims and values of the Sheffield Museums Trust (SMT).
- Have flexible approach to work and working hours.
