About the Role

This is a varied and hands-on management position with responsibility for both the day-to-day operation of No.1 Royal Crescent and the commercial performance of its retail offer. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will oversee front-of-house operations, manage Museum Assistants, coordinate events and group visits, and lead the development of retail opportunities.

You will play a key role in enhancing visitor engagement, increasing commercial income, supporting staff development, and ensuring the museum delivers outstanding service every day.

Key Responsibilities

As Front of House & Commercial Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operation of No.1 Royal Crescent while driving commercial performance in its shop. You will work closely with the Chief Operations Officer to develop retail strategies, enhance product ranges, improve visual merchandising, and identify new opportunities to increase income and visitor engagement.

You will oversee museum operations, ensuring the highest standards of customer service, health and safety, and visitor experience. The role includes managing Museum Assistants, The Front of House Administrator, coordinating recruitment, training and staff rotas, handling visitor enquiries, and ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the museum at all times.

A key part of the role is delivering an outstanding visitor experience through the management of group bookings, tours, events, educational visits, and special programmes. You will coordinate bookings and communications, work with internal and external partners, and help create memorable experiences that encourage repeat visits and positive recommendations.

The successful candidate will be a confident and proactive manager with strong commercial awareness, excellent organisational skills, and proven experience in staff management, customer service, budgeting, and retail operations. Experience within a museum, heritage, tourism, or visitor attraction
