Job Summary

Southwark Playhouse are look for Front of House & Bar Team Members for the run of Ride The Cyclone at Southwark Playhouse Elephant this summer.

Job Description

Fixed Term Contract from 17th June - 22nd August 2026.
Average 34 hours per week.
Pay Rate: £13.35 per hour
Performances: Tuesday - Sunday schedule.

Duties will include;

Visitor Experience
- To be part of creating a welcoming, accessible, and friendly environment for existing and potential customers, maintaining the highest level of customer care
- As first point of contact for visitors to our buildings, offer a warm and friendly welcome to all.
-To scan tickets as and when required to support the Sales & Ticketing team.
-To be a point of information about Southwark Playhouse and all its activities, promoting the organisation to the widest possible audience.
-To be aware of all the access facilities that the Playhouse offers its customers and to actively promote these facilities to the public.
-To be responsible for the successful delivery of a first-class sales and customer service.
-To be inside the auditorium during performances when required, and to assistance the audience with their needs during the performance.

Food & Beverage Operations
-To efficiently operate the theatre's bar, kitchen, and floor areas, at all times, including our pizza service.
-To responsibly handle takings and account for all income taken.
-To deal effectively with customer feedback and enquiries providing excellent customer service.
-To be proactive in bar and merchandise sales to ensure maximum profitability.
-To have a comprehensive knowledge of the organisation's Food and Beverage offering.
-To ensure excellent food hygiene standards in both the Bar and Kitchen areas.
-Ensure that the bar is always fully stocked, and that stock is attractively presented.
-To ensure that all areas of the front of house are clean, tidy, and well organised.

Job Requirements

Person Specification

Essential
Front of House experience
Bar experience.
Cash handling experience.
Excellent communication and organisation skills.
Good time management.
Strong work ethic.

Desirable
Knowledge and interest in Theatre.
Knowledge of EPOSNow.
Food Hygiene Certificate (training will be provided if you have not received)
