We seek a native French-speaking Lead Support Performer to assist in delivering weekly storytelling sessions in one assigned school or nursery in North or West London. The role combines performance support, child engagement and safeguarding responsibility within a structured term-time programme.

Job Description

The Lead Support Performer works alongside a Lead Performer and is assigned to a specific school or nursery on a weekly basis. The role involves supporting the delivery of structured French storytelling sessions (30-60 minutes), assisting with preparation, classroom management and safeguarding responsibilities. We are currently looking to fill the following weekly sessions: Tuesdays, 12:30-13:00 (Muswell Hill, North London) Thursdays, 10:00-11:00 (North London) These are the sessions currently available. As we continue expanding our programme and adding new partner schools and nurseries, additional weekly sessions may become available for performers who are interested in taking on more venues. The Lead Support is accountable for professionalism, preparation and consistency at their assigned setting, ensuring continuity throughout the agreed term. This is a term-time role beginning Summer Term 2026, with potential continuation into the academic year. Each session represents approximately 1-2 hours of work per week including preparation.

Job Requirements

Native French speaker (essential)
Experience working with children (education, theatre, childcare or similar)
Confident engaging groups and performing songs/stories
Ability to support classroom behaviour positively
Enhanced DBS (required)
Registered on DBS Update Service (essential)
Right to work in the UK
Based in or able to travel to North or West London
Ability to invoice (paid via bank transfer every two weeks)
Reliable, punctual and able to commit weekly

Fee: £20-£25 per session

Job Responsibilities

Support delivery of weekly French-language storytelling sessions at an assigned school or nursery
Memorise songs and understand weekly storylines in advance
Prepare props, music and materials (personal or school-provided device) before sessions
Ensure technical readiness to avoid delays
Take the register and ensure all children are accounted for
Support safe handover of children to school staff or parents
Assist with classroom management and group engagement
Build positive rapport with children
Speak in French primarily, using English where appropriate
Arrive 15 minutes prior to sessions and allow time for tidy-up
Contribute creative ideas and low-cost props
Maintain professional conduct with all stakeholders
Uphold safeguarding standards at all times
