Immediate Start! We are seeking exceptional Choir Workshop Leaders for a groundbreaking new Armonico Consort and Transformation Partnership Choral & Operatic Education Project.

Job Description

About the Programme

This ambitious programme will give children in both Primary and Secondary schools the chance to experience the joy of singing, culminating in inspiring performances ranging from trust-wide winter showcases to full-scale operatic productions with professional soloists and orchestral support.

About the Role

As a Choir Workshop Leader, you will deliver engaging singing workshops across a cluster of schools on a weekly basis. Each school class will receive 18 sessions in total starting this October, leading to public performances that celebrate the children's learning and creativity. A full set of resources, training and support is provided throughout the project by experienced Armonico Consort leader Caius Lee.

Hours & Locations

Delivery is organised into 2-5-hour teaching days, with schools grouped into West, East, North, and Outlier clusters across Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull, and Walsall. Leaders will work between 2-13 hours per week (depending on cluster allocation), with rehearsals scheduled during the school day. Travel expenses will be reimbursed. There will also be opportunities to work on concert days.

Pay

  • £55 per hour (for up to 3-hour sessions)

  • £240 per day (for days exceeding 3 hours)

  • Travel expenses reimbursed (in line with Armonico Consort's travel policy)

Job Requirements

  • Strong choir-leading skills, including vocal warm-ups
  • Strong interpersonal skills: motivating and inspiring
  • Experience planning inspiring repertoire for young singers
  • Experience working with children in educational settings
  • Sound musical knowledge
  • Ability to play piano (desirable)
  • Ability to travel (expenses reimbursed)

Job Responsibilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication with a friendly, professional manner
  • Ability to independently plan engaging and varied workshops
  • Willingness to work additional hours if required
  • Understanding of safeguarding, data protection, and legal responsibilities
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and community representation
  • Professional appearance and confidence in representing the organisation
