Description

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Studio Assistant with a background in painting to join an artist's studio based in Waterloo. This is a freelance position for three 8hr days per week (10:00 - 18:00) - initially throughout June, with the potential for ongoing work. Work days may differ from week to week so some flexibility with availability would be appreciated.

Working closely with the artist and workshop manager, the successful candidate will assist in the production of work for an upcoming project.

Applicants should have an established painting practice, experience working within an artist's studio environment, an awareness of contemporary and art-historical painting discourse, and an understanding of colour theory. The ideal candidate will also have experience of working with dry pigments, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to produce work to an exceptionally high standard.

Alongside these responsibilities, all members of the team are expected to assist in a variety of tasks across the studio as a whole, this includes the safe packaging and storing of artworks, helping prepare for studio visits, and dealing with deliveries and collections. The role requires collaboration, strong time-management, clear communication, and effective teamwork.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small team in a fast-paced, creative environment - helping to realise an ambitious upcoming project.

Starting daily rate: £150
