This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic about musical theatre, looking to develop their facilitation skills while working in a vibrant, supportive environment alongside experienced practitioners.
Class Schedule & Commitment
This is a freelance, termly position, but Creative Allsorts is looking for a consistent and committed facilitator for regular work throughout 2025-26 and beyond.
Winter Term 2025:
- Classes: Sundays from September 14th to November 23rd, 2025 (with a break on October 26th)
- Time: 10AM - 12PM
- Location: New College Durham
- Full Company Rehearsal: Sunday 30th November (10AM - 1PM)
Festive Performance: Sunday 7th December (additional hours may be required on this day, paid hourly)
A total of 2 hours per week is expected, plus the additional dates and hours listed.
Fee starting from £10ph depending on age and experience. All fees are over National Minimum Wage 2025.
Key Role Requirements
- You must be aged 16 years or older.
- You'll need a strong interest in musical theatre, with developing skills in acting, singing, and dancing.
- Experience working with or supporting children in a performing or educational setting.
- Experience in developing performances or showcases for young people is desirable.
- You must be an enthusiastic, dependable and positive team player
- You'll have the ability to take initiative while following the lead of the main facilitator
- You'll need excellent communication skills to inspire and motivate a group of young children.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role
- You must hold a valid, enhanced DBS check (or be willing to undergo one).
- You'll be required to provide references.
- You'll need to stay up to date with current safeguarding policies and procedures (guidance will be provided)
- A full, clean UK driving licence or the ability to consistently get to sessions on time is required.
Role Responsibilities
As the Musical Theatre Assistant, you will:
- Support the delivery of engaging musical theatre classes for ages 7-9.
- Assist in the teaching of acting techniques, vocal skills, and choreography.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and provide individual support to students.
- Set up and tidy away materials and equipment.
- Observe and respond to the needs of students sensitively and appropriately
- Uphold a positive and inclusive environment for all participants
- Maintain clear communication with the lead facilitator and Creative Allsorts team
- Assist during rehearsals and performances, including backstage support
