We are looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Event Professional to lead on the delivery of one of Kirklees Council's largest annual events. Event: Yorkshire Day 26 Event Date: Sunday 2nd August 2026 Location: Oakwell Hall & Country Park, Birstall, Batley, WF17 9LF Event Time: 11:00–16:00

About the Role

You'll be responsible for managing the live event from planning through to delivery. You'll work closely with Kirklees Council's events team and wider council teams, acting as the day-to-day anchor on operations, programming, timelines and budgets.

The freelancer will be responsible for delivering a full, family friendly event programme including staged performances, walkabout acts, craft areas, children's activities, traders, and attractions, as set out in the official event briefs.

We anticipate this role will be circa. 2 days per week + up to 15 extra days (to be agreed), between March - end of August (we are happy to discuss this further for the right candidate). We are looking for applicants to quote their day rate as part of their application, which must be at least in line with National Minimum Wage.

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who:

  • Proven experience delivering medium to largescale outdoor public events

  • Strong knowledge of UK event safety planning and SAG processes

  • Experience working with local authorities or public-sector clients

  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Confidence leading live event operations and event control environments
