Job Summary

Freelance educators are key members of the Education team with responsibility for effective and high-quality delivery of the on-site learning programmes with a wide range of schools.

Job Description

Contract: Freelance

Start date: As soon as possible

Salary: £15.56 per hour

Reports to: Head of Engagement

Deadline: Monday 23rd February

The post holder will undertake:

Effective and high-quality delivery of the on-site learning programmes with a wide range of schools.

Professional and sensitive care in working with our survivor speakers on- site.

To work with others to evaluate and develop the education programmes.

Professional development to strengthen expertise.

Main responsibilities

Programme Delivery - to work in collaboration with other educators to:

a) Prepare learning spaces ready for delivery

b) Deliver Holocaust education learning programmes to students across the age and ability range

c) Host Holocaust survivor speakers

Relationship development and team work - to work in collaboration with the Head of Engagement and other key stakeholders to:

a) Maintain open channels of communication with colleagues to ensure a holistic approach to the education entitlement offered by the Museum

b) Contribute as required to projects requiring collective effort across the organisation

c) Contribute to the development of measures that deliver good audience care and that the people and organisations receive the best possible learner experience.

Other:

a) Ensure that all professional codes of practice and legislative requirements are adhered to in programme delivery, e.g. safeguarding children, health and safety.

b) Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the work of the Museum.

c) Champion the aims, heritage and professional integrity of the organisation both internally and externally.

d) Comply with corporate policy and procedures at all times.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Museum Educator/Learning Facilitator Experience
  • Masters qualification or other relevant postgraduate qualification

Experience:

  • Experience of delivering programmes of learning to school students
  • Experience of developing, adapting and ensuring differentiation of learning resources

Skills:

  • Well-developed communication skills and high level literacy skills
  • Ability to work with a wide range of individuals, organisations and businesses at a variety of levels

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of approaches to effectively engage school pupils

  • Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures
