We are seeking a freelance cultural/creative education specialist to develop a suite of curriculum-linked learning resources for schools. Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens is one of the city's key cultural venues, home to important collections, local stories, natural history, art, heritage and community memory. As the museum moves towards a significant redevelopment of the building, we are developing an education "meanwhile" programme to ensure schools can continue to access high-quality cultural learning opportunities during this period of change. This commission will support the development of resources and session content that can be used in classrooms, outreach settings and future museum learning activity. The work will include resources on Sunderland's coal mining heritage and the Leifchild Report, the Victoria Hall Disaster, local animals and habitats, and Rebel Women of Sunderland. We are looking for someone with experience in museum, heritage, arts or creative education, with strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to create accessible, enquiry-led and multisensory resources for KS1-KS4 learners. The resources should be practical for teachers and museum educators, inclusive for different learners, and rooted in Sunderland's local history, heritage and environment. This commission is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens Redevelopment. We welcome applications from freelancers with experience in cultural, creative, museum, heritage, arts or education settings. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who can create accessible, inclusive and engaging resources for schools and learners with a range of needs. The ideal candidate will have: - Experience in museum, heritage, arts, cultural or creative education The successful freelancer will develop engaging, accessible and enquiry-led resources inspired by Sunderland's local history, heritage, natural environment and significant stories. The resources should be practical for teachers, museum educators and learning practitioners, and suitable for learners with a range of needs, abilities and confidence levels.
