Job Summary

We are looking for a freelance Animator to facilitate workshops and support young people to create a short animation film about the 250 year history of Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse in Norfolk.

Job Description

Norfolk Museums Service operates ten museums across the county, including Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, situated near Dereham. In 2027, Gressenhall will mark the 250th anniversary of the site through a series of exhibitions, events and community projects. It aims to explore and unearth new stories about the site's history from 1777 (as a House of Industry) to a Union Workhouse (1836-1948) and Care Home (1948-75), as well as its continuing relevance today.

This animation project is collaboration between the Freelance
Animator and young people, aged 16-18, based at Paston College recruited through Norfolk Museums Service's successful Kick the Dust youth engagement programme.

Supported by a Youth Engagement Worker and college tutor, the animator will lead a series of workshops with Young People in further education and support them to create the animation.

This project is made possible through funding provided by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

minute digital film telling the history of Gressenhall over 250
years.
Source / licence any music, imagery or specialist software
required (the Young People will have access to computers).
Carry out work to finalise the animation and ensure it is ready for display.

Workshops will take place on Wednesday afternoons during term-time, starting late September / early October 2026 and ending
February 2027. Final animation delivered by 1 May 2027

Anticipated hours 3-4 hours per week of workshop delivery, additional hours for pre and post production of animation film as required. Please outline this in application.
