4 days a week. (29.5hrs/wk). £23,200-£24,400 depending on experience. 12 month fixed term contract.

Job Description

Exhibitions & Workshops Manager will lead on curating and delivering the exhibitions programmed by the substantive postholder, as well as programming future exhibitions and workshops, as the organisation develops its high-quality offer. They will lead on providing support for artists and makers. As well as developing a wide range of offers to the public to be creative themselves and to make those offers inclusive of Crisis members and others facing tough times.

An understanding of the contemporary visual arts sector

Experience of planning and delivering visual arts exhibitions

Experience of working on community-based visual arts projects involving multiple people and partners

Experience of working alongside vulnerable adults Proven track record of working with and supporting artists, through mentoring and fundraising Experience of managing budgets

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Good IT skills, including knowledge of Outlook and Excel

Ability to learn how to use new software as required

Excellent problem solving and practical skills

Ability to work with limited supervision and use own initiative

Availability to work on weekdays as well as occasional evenings and weekends when required to do so

Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team

Good attention to detail

A willingness to undertake appropriate training

Ability to work with the public

Energy and enthusiasm

Job Responsibilities

Research, programme and install dynamic exhibitions in the Upper and Lower Galleries, and the Caf .

Work closely with artists and project partners to curate exhibitions and provide information for the public

Format information panels and labels for exhibitions

Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure marketing campaigns for the Visual Arts Programme are planned and well implemented including press, print and social media campaigns

Provide mentoring support to artists/makers and seek innovative ways of supporting their professional development

Seek out, develop and manage community partnerships with external organisations and individuals to help deliver both the visual arts programme and visual arts outreach work

Test different ways of using gallery spaces to maximise participation, innovation and income generation.
